Today, your editor has built the Special Hobby 1/48 DFS-230 assault glider. It was a relatively uncomplicated build. Not that there were not some adjustments to be made, but nothing catastrophic.

For something a bit different, the Zvezda 1/350 K-266 'Oriol' is the kit preview.

The decal review is Aeromaster 48-467: JG 1 Fw-190As.

Tom Cleaver returns today with a slight modification of the Tamiya 1/48 Swordfish from the Mk I to Mk II variant. This is something that just about anyone can do.

Keith Walker brings us the preview by taking a look at the new Trumpeter 1/144 H6K5 Mavis flying boat.

For a decal review, here is Aeromaster 48-142 for the He-111 in 'foreign' service.

From Mushroom Models Publications comes the latest book on the A5M 'Claude'. A very useful reference.

Continuing from yesterday, here are USN/USMC Modern Colors from White Ensign.

Wednesday, 18 June

Mark Fordham starts us off today with his Eastern Express 1/72 Hotspur glider. This is actually an old Frog kit and Mark's done a fine job with it.

The ESCI 1/48 FJ-2/3 Fury is today's kit preview.

Only one decal review today and that is Superscale 72-166 for the OV-10 Bronco.

Here is the first in the Aircraft section of a new line of enamel paints from White Ensign. These are Colorcoat paints for USN WWII aircraft.

Adding to yesterday's book review here is Squadron/Signal's US Tank Destroyers Walk-Around.

Because we all like things that are a bit off the beaten track, here is Jim Baker's Naboo Fighter in Adversary markings. Jim has a great sense of humor!

For a touch of nostalgia, here is the Monogram 1/131(or so)  C-121 Super Connie.

First decal review is Cutting Edge CED44002, Shuttle Orbiter Tile decals. This is an incredible sheet. Apparently I screwed up and did the logo sheet yesterday. Sorry for the glitch; I've fixed it.

Up next is Fox One 48005 for the B-1B.

Monday, 16 June

Starting us off after my forced holiday is Tom Cleaver with his build of the Grand Phoenix 1/48 FJ-4B Fury. Tom found that this kit was a bit more than he had initially planned.

As a bonus review, here is Michael Johnson's LTD 1/48 Boomerang

Fonderie Miniature's 1/48 MS.472 is the kit preview for today. Yes, another French short run kit, but yet another irresistible subject!

The first decal review is Cutting Edge CED44001, Shuttle Orbiter logo decals in 1/144.

Second is Third Group 48-043 for Bf-109E-3s of II./JG 51 during the Battle of Britain.

To go along with the decals, here is Cutting Edge CEBM 44002, tile masks for the 1/144 Shuttle Orbiter.

Tuesday, 10 June

Today, here's a Tuesday two-fer for you.

First, is Eric Bergh's Lindberg 1/245 LST. Eric enjoys these old kits and has really done a fine job on this one.

Next is Rich Rowan's Revell 1/32 Spitfire. Rich is returning to modeling after a bit of an absence and has done this one as a presentation model for a friend; probably the best reason to build a kit that there is.

The Fujimi 1/48 Westland Wasp is today's kit preview. This isn't exactly a new kit as the price on the box was a buck!

Superscale 48-681 for 345 BG B-25Ds is the first decal review.

Second is Aeromaster 32-001 for the Hawker Hunter.

Monday, 9 June

Tim Mansfield starts this week with his Airfix 1/72 TBM Avenger. Tim likes these old kits as do many readers and has done a good job on it.

The Fonderie Miniature 1/35 LCA (Landing Craft, Assault) is the kit preview. It has been send on to a dedicated landing craft enthusiast for building so stay tuned.

Aeromaster 48-043 for the Mossie VI is the first decal review.

Finally, I spent some time this weekend in Louisville, Kentucky at Wonderfest, probably the USA's premiere fantasy/sci-fi convention. Besides the usual crowd of black t-shirted individuals, there were lot of vendors, a very good model contest (photos to come) and of the many celebrities there, one was Ray Harryhausen, a master of stop-motion animation. A truly excellent time for all and a show that I enjoy a great deal. Yes, I did buy 'stuff' from the vendors. I can never seem to leave there without at least a couple of resin kits!

 

Friday, 6 June

For those of you who pay attention to history, today is the 59th anniversary of D-Day, the greatest invasion of modern history.

Your editor has managed to complete yet another kit in time for the Friday review, this time building the Hasegawa 1/32 FW-190D-9, a kit that is sure to become very popular.

With its recent reissue by Revell of Germany, here is a look at the Monogram 1/48 B-58 Hustler

The initial decal review is Aeromaster 48-129 for the Bf-109s of JG 53

Next is Superscale 72-333 for a F9F-2, F-4J and A-7E of CAW-7

Thursday, 5 June

Steve Davis starts us off with a brief review of the MAC 1/72 Reichenberg IV. Steve only sent in a couple of images for this one as his dog used the model as a chew toy!

Today's preview is another French short run kit, the Fonderie Miniature 1/72 Nord 1402, a French experimental jet from the mid 1950s.

Aeromaster 72-006 on European theater P-51Ds is the first decal review.

Today we return to the WWI time period with Tom Cleaver's Eduard 1/48 Albatros D.V. This is the Profipack version and Tom's done his usual super job on it.

Bill Michaels provides today's preview with another first war kit, the Eduard 1/72 Airco DH-2.

Second is another dig into the archives for Aeromaster 48-408 on the F-84G Thunderjet.

Here is a peek at a kit that is quite often overlooked and and can usually be picked up for a very reasonable price at swap meets; the ESCI 1/72 F-104G

The first decal review is Aeromaster 48-475 for the P-61 Black Widow.

Superscale 72-302 for aircraft of CAG-2 is the second. This covers some interesting types.
