HISTORY |
All I can tell you about these characters, is that I have seen two episodes. This was back many years ago when I had cable TV. I was enchanted by the stories and the frequent reference to cheese. It is a clay molded cartoon, if I remember correctly. They are quite popular with children of all ages and have that wonderful humor that usually only the British can appreciate.
THE KIT |
As you can see from the image above, you get quite a lot in the box. The box itself is quite unusual in that it is a large square with a plastic handle on top. It is made of very thick, waxed cardboard. However, since it is made in China, this isn't unusual as most kits I have from the PRC come is killer boxes.
You get two bags of goodies when opening the box. First is a large number of sprues in a plastic bag. I did not even attempt to show all the sprues, letting the box side do that for me. As you can see, there are a number of pieces! Scale is also an unknown. I placed a ruler next to the sprue bag and as you can see, the wheels for the bike are about 2 inches in diameter, so this isn't going to be a small kit when finished.
Detail on the parts looks superb and though I did not test fit anything, judging from the other more recent releases, there should be no problems with this kit.
The other bag contains the paint, glue, and a brush. It is recommended only those 8 and above, undoubtedly because of the glue and paint. The instruction sheet is quite large and detailed, as we have come to expect from Airfix in recent years. No need to try to convert Humbrol colors with this one as the paint containers are clearly marked with the appropriate color number.
Undoubtedly, this kit will not appeal to all of you out there, especially those who do not have a penchant for things 'not real'. It is also rather plain that this is meant to be more of a collectors kit than anything else, but it just looks too neat to leave unbuilt.
When it will be built is an unknown at this time as the 'to do' shelf is starting to sag under the weight of upcoming projects, but it will be built and proudly displayed next to my other 'not real' models.
Hopefully, this kit will bring in the quick money that the accountants at Airfix need to start on something important, like a 1/48 Canberra!
