THE KIT

MiniArt continues with its innovative and interesting diorama bases with this simple, but effective cobblestone street with a small park wall section. The vacuformed plastic used in these sets is very thick and that makes it about as easy to use as standard injected plastic parts once the bits have been removed from their backing sheets. The cobblestones and sidewalk blocks are very well molded, right down to cracks and missing bits. A manhole off to the side on the street adds some interest to things.

There are two identical injected sprues that contain the lamp standard and the various bits of iron fencing to be incorporated into the wall sections. Though you won't need all of the pieces provided, it is nice to have them as it allows you to have spares for other similar projects.

The single sheet of instructions provides clear assembly drawings for you. There is no painting guide, but one can use the box art for inspiration. In order to add value to these diorama sets, DragonUSA has included a set of German figures which you could use. This one has set 6174: Sturmpionier - Kursk 1943 in with the diorama. A nice touch I'm sure is appreciated.

CONCLUSIONS

A nice set and one that is relatively simple. Would make for a fine introduction to diorama bases and vacuformed plastic at the same time.
