Seven Mortal Sins, also known as Sin: The 7 Deadly Sins (sin 七つの大罪 Shin: Nanatsu no Taizai), is a Japanese anime television series produced by Artland and TNK that aired from April 14, 2017 to July 29, 2017. It is an adaptation of Hobby Japan's media franchise The 7 Deadly Sins (七つの大罪 Nanatsu no Taizai), which primarily consists of a series of fantasy figures.
Lucifer, one of God's archangels, is denounced for rebelling against the Almighty's will and cast out of Heaven. She is forced into a brief stopover by crashing into a high school's church, where a young girl, Maria Totsuka, witnesses her arrival. After Lucifer has infused the girl with a part of her angel's blood, she continues her fall into the depths of Hell, where she is met by Leviathan, the aspiring minor Demon Lord of Envy.
Soon after, Lucifer is challenged by the Seven Sins, the ruling Demon Lords of Hell, led by Belial. Bundling their powers, the Seven Sins overcome Lucifer and seal away her angelic powers by fitting her with a cursed Garb of Punishment, thereby turning her into a Demon Lord. Swearing revenge on her defeaters, Lucifer returns with Leviathan to Earth, where she turns Maria into her immortal slave. With her two sidekicks in tow, Lucifer sets out to defeat the Seven Sins one at a time in order to sunder their powers imbuing her Garb.
This figure is Leviathan, the aspiring Demon Lord of Envy, she becomes instantly infatuated with Lucifer upon the latter's arrival in Hell and makes herself into the fallen angel's sidekick. She is therefore continuously jealous of Maria because she receives the better part of Lucifer's attention, though the two are quite capable of working together if it serves Lucifer's interests. She has the ability to control water and water creatures.
THE KIT |
It wasn't until earlier this year that the anime was available in the US and I'd bought this kit back in 2015. The kit is one of E-2046's 'Antihero' series and is quite typical of their work. The casting is flawless and while not quite a snap kit, the designers have made every effort to make the parts fit well. Those who have built these kits will tell you the same thing and that is that the molding and fit is superb. E-2046 also goes the extra step to remove many of the mold seams, especially on the larger pieces. As you can see from the parts, there are fairly good size pins and sockets for the major bits.
This kit has optional parts included and you can see this in the parts layout diagram. For one thing, the figure can be built standing as shown in the photo that accompanies the kit. You can also build the figure sitting. and an additional lower torso is provded for this. This will also require different arm/hand piecesA separate breast piece is also included in case you'd rather model the figure with that area unencumbered by clothing. You will also note that the pants and top pieces are separate to make it easier to paint prior to installation.
The instructions provide an exploded view of the parts as well as the layout shown here. No painting information is provided, but with the photo included, it should be fairly easy to accomplish. Decals are provided for two sets of eyes as many modelers find painting anime eyes to be difficult. There is also a large "Envy" decal for the base. As you can imagine, other characters from the series are available both as kits and PVC figures for those who don't like painting and building.
CONCLUSIONS |
This kit is not, of course, for everyone and is at a minimum PG-13, however, for those who do like this sort of thing and those looking for something a bit different, you cannot go wrong.
