HISTORY

One of the more interesting sub-characters of the Queen's Blade anime, Irma (イルマ) is a member of the Queen's death squad (founded by Queen Aldra), the Assassins of Fang. Few know she exists. Trained alongside Echidna, she adopts an emotionless attitude. Her mission is to eliminate certain contestants from the Queen's Blade Tournament.

Irma is cold and callous, rarely showing emotions, though she loses her cool when surprised or pressed over the edge. Resourceful, she uses cruel tactics—hostages, torture, threats—to complete tasks. However, she shows emotional weakness toward cats, secretly caring for them.

Trained by Echidna as an assassin, Irma favors an off-hand fighting style, wielding both dagger and sword simultaneously to master's degree. She uses speed, agility, and stealth to her advantage. As Echidna's pupil, she can use the Black Rose technique: parrying an enemy's attack while attacking with her dagger. She also uses throwing knives in ranged fights and is a master of disguise, easily blending in as a commoner, servant, etc. Typical of female characters in the series, Irma's clothing is usually provocative. Note that E-2046, whether by mistake or purpose, calls this character Iruma.

THE KIT

Typical of E-2046 figure kits, there is but a sliver of the resin casting blocks. They even go so far as to sand away most of the mold seams on large pieces. This really speeds up the building process. The engineering is such that the pieces fit very well and often in such a way that you can prepaint pieces prior to assembly. To top it off the pieces are packaged separately and E-2046 packages their kits in such a way that they arrive from their trip from Hong Kong in perfect condition.

If there is a downside to these figures it is that shipping can be quite expensive for the large ones. In addition, there is no assembly guide for most of these; simply a photograph of the completed model or in this case, an exploded view. In addition, no painting guide is given, but then again, this is not all that unusual even for military figures.

The figure is your standard  anime figure that provides 35 pieces, one of which is a large base. Since this is a later tooling, the kit does include a decal for the eyes, which many like as they find painting eyes to be difficult. In reality, they are not difficult to do once one has built a few of these kits. Also like some of their kits, this one includes a separate, topless torso which oddly, already has the upper arms molded in place. Even though the join areas are fairly well defined, pinning some of the larger bits would be a good idea.

CONCLUSIONS

Those of us who have built figure kits from E-2046 have liked them and find that the fit is such that the kit can go together fairly quickly. Some of them are quite complex both in the number of parts and the painting requirements. Simple ones like this would be a fairly good way to get into this segment of the hobby.
