HISTORY

Frankly, I know nothing about this figure other than I liked the pose and so bought it. My attempts at googling something came to naught, though it does seem as if it has something to do with the Hunter x Hunter series as it is the only one that even mentions Nen. The figure itself is a fighter/ninja with a scimitar and that is about it.

THE KIT

E-2046 and other figure companies have produced a great number of characters from this series. All of the characters are fairly unique in terms of character and outfits. They also become nude fairly frequently during the anime, which some casters will adapt to their figures. This is not one of them, but is in a fairly nice pose.

Typical of E-2046 figure kits, there is but a sliver of the resin casting blocks. They even go so far as to sand away most of the mold seams on large pieces. This really speeds up the building process. The engineering is such that the pieces fit very well and often in such a way that you can prepaint pieces prior to assembly. To top it off the pieces are packaged separately and E-2046 packages their kits in such a way that they arrive from their trip from Hong Kong in perfect condition.

If there is a downside to these figures it is that shipping can be quite expensive for the large ones. In addition, there is no assembly guide for most of these; simply a photograph of the completed model. In addition, no painting guide is given, but then again, this is not all that unusual even for military figures.

This particular kit is a repop from a figure designer named Yamashita, whose work is highly regarded. the kit provides 18 pieces and does not include a base. Unlike later kits, this one does not have decals for the eyes, which many find the most difficult to paint. In reality, they are not difficult to do once one has built a few of these kits. This is a fairly old kit as E-2046's kit numbers are now in the 16-18,000s. As such, the mating surfaces are fairly shallow though there are positive locators. It is recommended that the larger parts be pinned using a section of thick wire or paperclip.

CONCLUSIONS

Those of us who have built figure kits from E-2046 have liked them and find that the fit is such that the kit can go together fairly quickly. Some of them are quite complex both in the number of parts and the painting requirements. Simple ones like this would be a fairly good way to get into this segment of the hobby.
