HISTORY

Shizuka is a character from Queen's Blade. Shizuka has left behind the evil ways of a Kouma Ninja and now accompanies Lady Tomoe, a major character of the Hinomoto clan who rules a 'nation in the east' and aids her on her quest to win the Queen's Blade, a contest that determines who will be next to rule 'the Continent'.

THE KIT

Every E-2046 I have ever owned or built has been superbly cast and this is no exception. The kits have no casting flaws, no air pockets and are lacking the large pour stubs often seen in other resin figures. What is fairly unique with this kit is that it is cast in color. Parts are cast in purple, black, a very light grey, and flesh tone. Of course, most of us will paint many of the parts any way, but it is a nice touch. Something that was becoming the norm when I stopped buying these kits, is the inclusion of eye decals. This set offers two 'poses' in two different iris colors along with a set of eyebrows. Now I learned how to paint anime eyes after much practice, but it is one more thing that that would help bring newer modelers into the fold.

The instructions are photo-copies that offer a parts layout on one side along with several photos of completed portions of the model showing where the parts fit. Normally one gets an exploded view and that is it. With only 32 parts this is not a particularly complex kit. It is fairly standard fare for kits of this size and ensures that the builder will be able to complete it in fairly short order. I am not sure if color information is provided and if it was there, I wouldn't be able to read it anyway.
CONCLUSIONS

I bought this one as it is a character from an anime series that I enjoy rewatching. These kits are such that even a beginner will be able to build them to a good standard. While the major join areas are fairly positive, it is always a good idea to pin some of them. I use super glue for assembly while others may prefer other types of cements for resins.
