With the new Hobbycraft P-59 kits on the market, it was inevitable that there would be resin sets for it. The kit really suffers from having a less than detailed cockpit so a resin replacement is very much needed.

This particular set has a new floor, side panels, seat, instrument panel, forward coaming and gun sight, and a small control wheel. The molding is excellent and the seat includes molded on belts. The kit control column is used. There is instrument detail in the combination instrument panel rudder pedal assembly. Instructions are very good, showing parts placement as well as any preparatory work needed and color information. As good as the set is, it doesn't include a radio rack behind the pilot. This area is quite visible and the pathetic little box provided by the kit does not adequately fill the bill. Perhaps TD will take this suggestion to heart and include this in updated releases.

This isn't the only cockpit set for this kit on the market, but it is nearly half the price and to many folks, that is a very important consideration. I know that I'll be using this set and their wheels when I do my next P-59 kit.
