NOTES: | Resin cockpit and gun set |
Here is acockpit set from a company that is new to me, Mustang Models. They are fromKorea and if this set is typical of their other sets, then they will do well. This particular set is for the Academy F-86F Sabre and includes not only cockpitbits, but new gun bays as well. As you can see from the illustration ofthe parts, there are enough bits and pieces to do a full cockpit. No kit partsare required at all to complete this set, which is a nice change from some othersets.
Shown on theleft is a sample of the parts that are included in the set. An interesting wayof engineering the parts has the gun bays built into the side parts of thecockpit. You can see the right side console molded on the top of this particularpart. The detailing is very good, as one would expect from moderncastings.
As is moreoften done with new sets, there is no tub per se, but one has to build it fromseparate sides, floor and fore/aft bulkheads. I assume this makes for easiermanufacturing, however it also makes for more opportunities for fumble fingeredmodelers such as myself to make some major goofs in construction.
The rest of the instruction sheet is shown to the right. As youcan see, there isn't a lick of English in it so what any colors or sequence maybe is more conjecture than anything else. You'll also note that there is somecutting and hacking of kit parts required, especially as one has to remove thekit gun bays and the kit interior.
For the modeler who wants to improve the look of his AcademySabre, this set is a good one to choose. Wonder if it will also fit the Hasegawakit......
