It is a fact that most military airplanes spend more time on the ground than in the air. While on the ground, they usually have all their various openings covered up. This is to prevent the weather or wildlife from getting into places that can cause problems. Any more, the usual cover for intakes and exhaust are vinyl covers that have elastic along the outer edges. These can be carried with the plane and then easily put over the opening once things have shut down for a while. Though not pretty, they are effective.

MAW has duplicated this in resin for your favorite 1/48 F-14B/D kit. Simply cut away the resin pour block and install in the prepped section of your kit.  Like all MAW resin, the casting is flawless and ready to prep, paint and install.
