More neat 1/700 photoetched stuff from Lion Roar. This time it is a set of collapsible masts for Japanese carriers. These masts were on the aft portion of the ship and were geared so they could be moved from vertical to horizontal during aircraft operations.

The set includes four different designs/sizes with two being rectangular structures for some ships and simple masts with braces for others. The instructions show you exactly which mast style and size to use for which ships. The masts can be shown either vertical orhorizontal and for the latter an extra etched gear piece is provided. As you can see from the close-up, the etching is superbly done.

This is a very cool set and no one building a Japanese carrier should be without these as they are so much nicer than the solid plastic piece that comes with the kit.
