Those of you who have bought the Trumpeter Super Sabre kit were probably aghast at the shape of the kit's intake. It is so very wrong with it flat lower lip and squared off lower corners. It is also nearly impossible to correct, though one can make some headway by filling the lower corners with super glue and reshaping them.
However, that is not an issue any more if you don't mind spending a few dollars. XMM out of Russia has a line of seamless intakes that include a corrected nose just for these Trumpeter kits. This is the 1/48 offering. Will this fit the Monogram or ESCI 1/48 F-100? I don't know. The Monogram kit is pretty nice despite having a shallow intake and the ESCI kit is not worth the effort.
As you can see, it includes the nose gear well. Some trimming and cutting is required not only by removing the old nose, but by trimming the cockpit tub mounting lugs as they are too long to fit on this replacement piece. Full instructions are provided. The casting is excellent and the part is ready to paint and install. Delivery is also fairly quick. The review item arrived within 10 days of ordering.
