During the review of the
Italeri 1/48 C-130J, I commented that there were no aftermarket decals for
this plane. I shortly received an e-mail from Vince Maddux telling me that
he has a line of Alps printed decals for this and other C-130s. I suggested
he send in a review sample and so he did.
This sheet covers two AMC grey C-130Js from the 135 AS/135 AW, Maryland ANG. One is a standard aircraft with the grey band and a color unit badge behind the door. The other is one with a full color tail band and no unit badge. The sheet includes sufficient common markings to do one of the two planes. Since this is an Alps printed sheet, it is on one carrier so the markings will need to be cut out. Printing is well done and crisp. My sample had a rough time in the mails and arrive slightly crunched so a tiny section of the printing rubbed off the color fin stripe.
Vince provides a nicely printed instruction guide, but it seems he uses the same sheet for all his C-130s as the sheet number is the same on both samples I received. This one is also called a C-130H, but we know it really is for a J. I don't know the price as there was no other information in with the sheet, but if you contact Vince at the e-mail listed below, he can give you details.
