Here is another oldie, this time on the C-47. Recommended kits are the Italeri or ESCI C-47s and 25 years later, those are still the ones I'd choose. Airfix does one that isn't bad, but it is definitely older technology (i.e. rivets).

First up is a USAAF C-47A 'Honey Bun III' from the 436 TCG at Melvin (wherever that is) in 1945. It is in OD over neutral grey with a bare metal nose cap (probably a replacement).

Next up is an overall bare metal C-47 used by Field Marshall Montgomory from July 1945 to Jan 1956. Actually, I think that's a misprint on the instructions and should be 1946.

Finally a very nice post war Canadian Air Force Dakota with a bright yellow rescue band and a white top with the red/white lightning bolt on the fuselage side. I'm also thinking that the red cowling marks shown on Monty's C-47 really belong on this set of markings.

The sheet only provides fuselage insignia so you'll have to scrounge elsewhere for those on the wings.

Review copy courtesy of me and my diligent searching through piles of decals at swap meets.
