Another very old decal sheet

Before Academy and Tamiya produced their F-84G kits, there was the very nice one from Heller. It was of the raised panel line school of mold making, but it was nicely done and still makes into a nice model. It is this kit that this decal sheet was designed for. It should fit the newer ones, but as always, no guarantees. The sheet does not include insignia or other common markings. Those items need to be gleaned from the kit sheet or some other aftermarket source.

All three planes are in natural metal with a lot of color.

First is from the 36th FBW and flown by Col. Robert Scott of Flying Tiger fame. Your editor build a kit with these markings and it was the first (and only) time that he's done a model covered with Bare Metal foil. Talk about a lot of work!

Next is a Korean War vet from the 49th FBG. I did this plane using newer decals and the result was quite stunning, as you can see at the bottom of the page.

Finally, a 527 FBS/86 FBG Thunderjet flown by Col. John Chennault. This aircraft has lots of color with the nose, tanks and tail painted yellow before applying the black checks.
