I'm sure it was a major let-down for VF-201 to have to turn it their Tomcats for the less cool F-18 Hornet, and old models at that. But I guess it is better to have something to fly than nothing and with the Tomcat fleet slowly becoming extinct, this was what was offered. Didn't mean that they couldn't do a cool paint scheme and so this rather brilliant one was applied to the boss bird for the squadron. What is really different is the flag in between the tailplanes. No recommended kit is suggested, but I'm sure most will go for the Hasegawa kit.
