With the recent reissue of the F-105D, many modelers have been wanting to do one in overall silver lacquer. Problem was that there was a need for a decal sheet. Though several have been done in the past, these have quickly disappeared leaving many modelers wanting. One must remember when doing one of these aircraft that several modifications need to be done to the kit. That includes removing all of the scabbed on reinforcements, the gun gas vents and the larger fuselage spine among a few. I did all of these to a 1/72 F-105D so you may want to visit that review to see what is needed.

This sheet carries two of the more colorful aircraft of the early operational use of the Thud. First is the green banded Thunderchief from the 335th TFS/4th TFW. The 'Chiefs' have the appropriate warrior's head marking under the canopy area.

The other is from the 49th TFW. No unit is given so either all the aircraft were so marked or this is the Wing Commander's plane.

A small glitch is on the instruction sheet where they do not show the placement of the tail serial number for the 335 TFS aircraft. It goes under the green band in a similar location to the 49th TFW aircraft.

If you've wanted a good 'Silver Thud' sheet, your wait is over.
