Finally there is an aftermarket decal sheet for those of us who want a different scheme for our ProModeler F-86d. Why R-M decided on doing an early F-86D while allowing Revell of Germany to do the 'good' version is totally beyond me.
Being able to find markings for an early non-parabrake Sabre Dog has been a lesson in frustration. There are plenty of Superscale sheets from decades ago for the Lindberg kit, but they are all for later F-86Ds.
Superscale's first D sheet is for one of the most photographed F-86Ds around, and that is from the 94 FIS. You can see a picture of this plane in the well known (at least to F-86D fans) photo showing all that is needed to support the aircraft. Superscale's earlier 94 FIS sheet had mistakenly used the current 94FS colors of blue and white. Research by Norris Graser and others have proven these colors to be yellow and black as shown is several contemporary color images. It goes to show that black and white images are difficult to get color information from.
This sheet has just the single aircraft on it and only gives the full color tail markings. The stabilizers will have to be painted yellow and the black bands applied. Frankly, that is all that will fit on the sheet! Superscale has also kindly provided the OD nose anti-glare panel for those of you who dread painting those things. You also get the white surround to the radome which is barely visible above the wing USAF markings.
This is a great sheet and one that will really look super on your F-86D
