An aircraft often overlooked by modelers is the F-89 Scorpion. This sheet provides four options for the D/J version that was part of the US Air Defense in the 50s and 60s. For kits, this one was undoubtedly done for the now difficult to find Revell kit, but since then Acadmey/Hobbycraft have produced kits that should be easier to locate. All four options are in unpainted metal, some with large red 'Arctic' markings on the wings and tail section.

First up is one of those red tailed planes I just mentioned, an F-89D with the 66 FIS when based in Alaska during 1955. It has yellow on the forward parts of the wing tip rocket pods.

Next is an F-89J when based with the 456s FIS. This one has black wing tanks and a yellow rudder.

From the 76 FIS at Pinecastle, FL is this F-89H. The rudder and rocket pods are first painted white before applying the red stripes.

Finally, an F-89J of the 84 FIS. It has black fuel tanks and a large yellow band on the lower fin.

There are enough common markings and insignia to do one aircraft. Aluminum patches are provided for the 66 FIS option to put under the wing insignia.
