Now here is a sheet from which I used a lot of the markings. This is for the MiG-17 and MiG-19. At the time this was issued, the only MiG-17 around was the slightly overscale radar nosed version from Hasegawa. For a MiG-19, we had the KP version. In fact you can still rather easily find both variants out there. Since then, KP has done a -17, still only a radar nosed version and Dragon did a couple. Oddly, no modern mold 1/72 MiG-19 has appeared so this is something that perhaps some one will pick up on.

To do a standard nosed MiG-17, most of us simply carved up the kit nose and filled it up, ignoring that the radar-nosed canopy was different. The instructions state that a ring nose should be used to replace the kit version, but doesn't tell us where to get a new nose. Many years later, Carpena did provide a resin replacement nose for use with the KP kit and Falcon did several of the earlier canopies in vacuform. But I'm getting rather far in the future for this sheet.

What you have are markings for no fewer than 8 aircraft from a variety of nations. All are standard versions or MiG-17C and MiG-19C types

For the MiG-17 there is a Syrian version camouflaged in dark and light green uppers with light blue undersides, a North Vietnamese version in dark green mottle as well as one in unpainted metal with a red fin tip. A Cambodian version with a nice red flash on the side and an Indonesian version with a brillant red tail marking round out the 'Fresco's.

For the MiG-19s, we have another Syrian version in light and dark tan uppers with light blue undersides. A Chinese variant in nice mixture of olive green, tan, brown and light green along with a Pakistani version in the same colors.

Since these are basically numbers and insignia, you can do all eight planes with what is on the sheet, something rather rare with today's decal sheets.
