Another very nice Superscale sheet, this time for 51st FG P-40K Warhawks. This unit was known for its shark-mouth aircraft as well. It seems that the P-40 was just designed for these things.
First up is a P-40K of Major Robert Liles, the CO of the 16th FS in October 1943. This plane is in overall Olive Drab with a Neutral Grey underside and a white star on the wheel hub. Typical of aircraft in this theater of operations, the serial number has been painted out with fresh OD and an aircraft number place in there instead.
The other option is with the 25th FS in the summer of 1943 and was flown by Lt. Charles White. This plane is in RAF equivalent colors of Dark Earth, Dark Green and Sky Grey. The spinner has a white forward section with a red tip. A white fin tip is also carried. Both of these planes have the ADF Loop antenna on the fuselage spine, something else also normal for CBI aircraft.
The recommended kit for this sheet is the Hasegawa version, something that may require a bit of hunting to find. As with other Superscale sheets, this one is superbly printed by Cartograf and provides common markings for one aircraft.
