NOTES:

For the Monogram 1/72 kit.

One of the reasons I build so little in the way of biplanes is, in a word, rigging. I'm not that good at it, I find it to be tedious (probably why I'm not good at it), and so it is one reason why there are so few early aviation aircraft in my growing model collection.

Now, EZ Rigging, from the people at Starfighter Decals, has come on the scene with ready to go photo etch rigging. In this case it is for the Monogram F4B-4. The argument is made that since rigging was more flat than round (you know, airfoil shaped), that photo etch would be the perfect medium for rigging. After all, Tamiya's Swordfish rigging and the rigging for the Accurate Miniatures F2F series were both photo etch and widely acclaimed.

So it is with this set. It not only includes all the rigging, but also has a very complete instruction section on the back of the card telling the builder exactly what goes where and when to install it. It also includes a radio wire, something that wasn't airfoil shaped, but it is a nice inclusion.

When you add this to their resin cockpit and excellent aftermarket decals for the little Boeing, it will make into a very nicely detailed aircraft model.
