NOTES:

For Airfix kit.

Moving to 1/72 for the new releases, here is Starfighter Decals' third sheet for the TBD-1 Devastator. This one has three markings options and with the insignia, tail hook stripes and prop tip decals, you can do two of them if you choose carefully. The additional wing walk areas and the cowlings and tails will need to be painted, of course.

The sheet is designed for the ancient Airfix kit, but should also fit the now somewhat difficult to find Valom kit if you are so interested in using that. The sheet itself is superbly printed by Catrograf, who has become the top decal producer in the world, and rightfully so as the colors are vibrant and the detailing crisp and clear.

Option #1 and #2 are from the USS Enterprise during 1940. These two VT-6 options allow for either a red or yellow cowling with a True Blue empennage.

The third options is from the USS Lexington's VT-2. This one has a Lemon Yellow tail section with a red cowling, making for a rather colorful plane.

The decal sheet also includes the black or white pin stripes needed for the cowling, though as I look at things, only the black one is designated on the instructions.

It is a great sheet and a very good price. If you have been waiting for some decent markings to do your TBD-1, your wait is over.
