With the imminent release of a new Lysander kit in 1/48, this new sheet from Max Decals could not be more welcome. Should you have the older Hawk/Testors Lysander kit and were wondering what you could use for different markings, then you should also be happy to hear about this particular sheet.

If you have read the previous reviews of the 1/32 sheets that Max Decals have produced you have pretty well seen what is on this sheet. However, for the sake of completeness, I'll go over what is there.

First is a 755 Sq FAA (that's Fleet Air Arm to the uninitiated), TT.III target tug resplendent in underside yellow and black stripes.

Another TT.III, this time in US 8th AF livery, though it retains the wing RAF roundels. Actually, I think that the unit was just on loan to the USAAF and that is why it only has US markings on the fuselage.

Next a pair of Royal Egyptian AF Lizzies. The first from 1941 and in desert camouflage of Middle Stone/Dark Earth over Sky. The Sky underside is a bit unusual as it was normally Azure. Also of interest is the yellow surround to the fuselage roundel and the tall fin stripes. The other REAF Lysander (from 1940) is in overall silver dope. Both aircraft are fitted with sand filters on the carb intake.

Next is a Portugese AF Lysander III from 1943, again in standard RAF camo.

The final aircraft is from the Turkish AF. This one is also in standard RAF camo. To see a side profile, follow this link to one of the 1/32 sheets.

Regardless of which kit you choose to use this sheet on, it will really make your Lysander stand out from the crowd!

Max Decals has color copies of the instruction sheet at their website. Just click on the hyperlink below to access it. Max Decals informs me that their decals are being distributed by Squadron so obtaining them should not be a problem.
