The CAF has been doing special schemes on at least one CF-18 for the past decade or more. It is always interesting to see just what they can come up with each year. This most recent one is for the 60th Anniversary of 425 Sq, the Alouettes. As you can guess, this unit is mostly manned by French Canadians.

The sheet itself is superbly done and offers all of the markings needed to complete the scheme. There are also just white outlines for the large maple leaf on the upper fuselage for those of you brave enough to want to paint it in. Templates are provided as well to make this job easier. The sheet also includes the large red and blue backgrounds for the outer fins. Again, this could be painted on and in the 1/48 sheet (not shown), that is what you have to do.

As usual with Leading Edge, the sheet is superbly printed and provides all of the details that you need to produce an accurate model. In addition, the LE instruction sheet is one of the best on the market, providing all sorts of advice and information about the aircraft in question. The 1/48 version of this has the markings on two very large sheets.

Undoubtedly, most modelers, regardless of scale, will be choosing the Hasegawa kit for this sheet. Other kits could undoubtedly be used as I believe Italeri and Airfix/Heller do 1/72 Hornets. In 1/48, it would be Monogram and Italeri for other options as well.

Regardless of which kit is used, this decal sheet will make your next Hornet a real show-stopper.
