Undoubtedly spurred on by the recent release of the very nice Airfix C-47, Iliad Design has provided us a sheet for aircraft that participated in the Berlin Airlift. This event has only been sporadically treated by the aftermarket folks and it is great to see an entire sheet dedicated to this event. There are four options on this sheet with two in some rather ratty camouflage and two of them in unpainted metal. If you are wondering, I'm sure these schemes will work on the ESCI or Italeri kits as well.

First up is the 'Fassberg Flyer' a plane that has obviously seen a lot of service. The main shade is very faded OD with patches in newer and newer OD. The flight controls and engine cowlings are in aluminum or bare metal.

Next is another plane in somewhat faded OD with the previous markings painted out in fresher OD. This plane sports replacement ailerons and sports a yellow and black fin stripe. The wings on this are replacements as they are in fresher OD.

In overall unpainted metal is one from The European Air Transport Service. This plane has red cowlings and fin stripe.

The final option is from BOAC. This is a C-47A with the shorter carb intakes atop the engine nacelles. Unlike the USAF aircraft, this one has no de-icing boots. Note that the fin flag is handed.

Instructions are superb and offer excellent upper surface drawings as some of these planes have had a lot of swapped parts. A photo of planes at Tempelhof is included. Decals are very nicely printed, and there are insignia for all options.

In all, a superb offering and one that should provide some inspiration to pull that new Airfix kit from the stack.
