| NOTES: | Reprint |
Based on
the sheet number, I'm pretty sure this is a reprint. It is also well timed to
the reissue of the Hasegawa 1/72 B-26B/C by Eduard. The sheet provides options
for five aircraft with a variety of schemes.
The first option is 'Centenarian', undoubtedly named for the mass of mission markers on the nose. It is in unpainted metal with olive drab covering the D-Day markings and a panel behind the nose art. The outer portions of the engine cowlings is in black. This aircraft is shown with the 56th BS at the end of the war.
Next is a
shark mouthed OD over neutral grey plane from the 1st pathfinder squadron in
April 1945. It has an unpainted metal upper cowling on the left engine.
'Georgia's on my Mind' is the third option in OD over unpainted metal with Invasion stripes with the 494th BS. This plane has medium green splotches on the edges of the flight surfaces.
We next have a standard OD over neutral grey plane with the medium green splotches. This 442nd BS plane was named 'The Old Warrior' and has an impressive mission tally.
Finally, there is 'Thumper II' from the 441st BS. This aircraft is in overall unpainted metal and also has a fairly large mission tally. The last three options all have red propeller spinners.
This is another super sheet and like all Iliad Design offerings provides not only profiles, but also upper fuselage images to assist with markings placement. Well worth picking up.
