Thanks to the recent release of the Tamiya 1/48 P-38J, we are seeing some new sheets for this aircraft. This one from Iliad Designs provides five options, with most of them either in OD over Neutral Grey or unpainted metal. One thing to note is that the exhaust usually stained the upper rear section of the boom and the upper portion of the fin.

First is a 79th FS/20th FG plane with a full suite of invasion stripes. This aircraft has an unpainted metal nose with a white band and yellow forward cowling and spinner.

Next is an 80th FS/8th FG plane based in New Guinea during late 1944. This one has black upper and lower fin tips with green wing bands.

Third offering has an unusual camo scheme of Medium Sea Grey over Black and was assigned to the 7th FG in the UK in early 1944 on night intruder missions.

Fourth is 'My Dad' with the 7th FS/20th FG during early 1944 in the UK.

Finally, a Lightning with the 49th FS/14th FG based in Italy during mid 1944.

In all a great selection of aircraft that should do well for those who like P-38s.

Instructions provide exact info on just where the yellow bits are located. Whichever you choose, the result will be a neat model. Decals are superbly printed and provide sufficient insignia to do four of the options.
