One can always count of Mike Grant to produce interesting decal sheets and this one is no exception. This sheet covers three early B-17F Flying Fortresses in OD over Neutral Grey. In most respects they are very much the same, but they do have some very well done nose art and they are of planes that have never been available on decals before.

First up is 'Panama Hattie' of the 63 BS/43 BG. It carries the early insignia that was typical for the F model B-17 when it entered squadron service.

Also from the 63 BS is 'Lulu Belle'. The sheet provides the name and artwork separately as the aircraft first flew without the name. You'll notice that none of these planes have the astrodome atop the nose.

Finally, from the 325 BS/92 BG comes "Blooming Grove".  The sheet provides nose art for both sides of all these planes as it is uncertain if the artwork was carried on just one or both sides.

The only model around is the old Revell B-17F kit, which is really quite good, despite its age. You may notice the 'barred' insignia on the insignia sheet. Though not used for these planes, a generic 1/48 insignia sheet for the B-17 was produced to be used with other B-17 sheets.
