Shrinking down their 1/48 sheet, FlightDecs has provided the same schemes for the Sabre in 1/72. The difference is that in this case, your choice of kits is different. In this regard, the Hobbycraft Mk.6 and Fujimi F-86F-30 kits are the ones that are recommended. The sugar scoop intakes provided in resin in the 1/48 kit are not offered in this one so the modeler will have to make those out of scrap plastic. The Hobbycraft kit has the correct slatted 6-3 wing used on the Mk.6.

On to what is provided on the sheet.

First is an overall unpainted metal Mk.2 from 413 Sq RCAF during the 1954 time frame. The red nose will have to be painted by the modeler.

The JG 71 Mk 6 is in standard Luftwaffe colors and has a silver-grey underside. There are serials and code numbers for an unpainted metal version that was supposedly flown by Erich Hartmann.

Next is a 234 Sq Mk.4 from the RAF while they were awaiting their Hunters. It is in Dark Green/Dark Sea Grey over PRU Blue. The outline of the nose flash is provided on the sheet and a painting template is included in the instructions.

From 434 Sq, RCAF comes this similarly painted Mk.6.

Finally another RAF Mk.4 with a Blue nose and fin. This one has an aluminum painted underside.

The decals are superbly printed in brilliant colors by Cartograf and will surely enhance your next F-86 project.
