Eight options

For their third Cougar sheet, Furball Aero Design has provided one for the Blue Angels Cougars. These are basically from the season of 1955 and 1956. Most of the single seat planes are early F9F-8 versions without the intake splitter plate. Only Blue Angel #5 is a later version that has this feature as well as the nose refueling probe.

The sheet also contains a pair of two seat Cougars which, interestingly enough, were not part of the team when they were flying the F9F-8. These two planes are from the F11F era  with Blue Angel #0 being from 1958 and Blue Angel #7 from 1965.

Note that Blue Angel Blue has not always been the same shade so the instructions provide a mixing ratio for you to use. Also note that the leading edges of the flight surfaces were all highly polished metal. The wing walk areas were painted in Corrogard which is considerably duller.

As with other of their sheets, there are full color painting and markings instructions which provide any detail differences. The decals themselves are superbly printed by Cartograf.

Overall it is an excellent choice of markings and one you should seriously consider picking up if you have the Kitty Hawk kit.
