For the Academy kit

There are several ways to get nice cockpit detail. One is to scratchbuild what you need. Another is to fork out for resin or photo etch aftermarket sets. The third is to use decals. This last one is probably the least time consuming and for those of us who are terrible at scratch building, the most inexpensive.

This particuilar set from Furball Aero-Designs is for the Academy 1/48 USN Phantom IIs. You get a full set instrument panels and side consoles as well as rudder pedal detail and seat harness detail. Note that rear seat pedals are provided and for 99% of your Navy F-4s will not be needed. Though the aircraft could be fitted with rear controls, it rarely was.

You get a full set for the F-4B/N and a full set for the F-4J/S as there were differences in the panels between the two types. Now I realize that there are modelers who will poo-poo the ideal of using decals (I mean REALLY!), but they are very much a viable options for many of us. I'm always asked if these will fit other kits. Dunno, but as they are so inexpensive, I'd give them a go as they cannot be all that much off.

REAL Phantom Phreaks will want this one!
