Fifteen options |
This set is another collaboration between Furball Aero Design and Detail and Scale. It provides fifteen markings options for F-14A/B aircraft that were painted in the Tactical Paint Scheme. This scheme consists of FS 35237 for the dark color, FS 35320 for the intermediate shade and FS 36375 for the lighter shade. These latter two shades are very close and often difficult to distinguish from each other, especially if the paint has weathered to any degree. In fact, weathering can make the entire airframe seem the same color. Do not take the colors shown on the sheet as the actual shades as they are enhanced to show the demarcation areas.
The markings are designed for the Tamiya 1/48 Tomcat, though it should fit other kits in this scale with little or no issue. Usually the problem of fit comes with fin and fuselage bands and stripes. You would think that all 1/48 F-14s are the same, but that is not always the case.
So here is what's on the sheet.
-VF-14, F-14A
162700, “AC 100” USS John F. Kennedy, Operation Desert Storm, 1991
-VF-31, F-14A
161856, “AE 200”, USS Forrestal, 1991
-VF-102, F-14A
(TARPS) 162695, “AB 100”, USS America 1993
-VF-103, F-14B
162918, “AA 100”, USS George Washington, 2002
-VF-143, F-14A+
161416, “AG 100”, USS Eisenhower, 1991
-VF-191, F-14A
159002, “NM 100”, NAS Miramar, 1987
-VF-211, F-14A+
161599, “NG 100”, USS Nimitz, 1991
-VF-213, F-14A 161294, “NH 200”, USS Lincoln, 1991
The sheet provides enough data markings for two planes. A full data placement guide is provided as well. Decals are superbly printed by Cartograf.
