Following the release of Tamiya's 1/48 P-38 F/G Lightning, it was to be expected that you'd see new sheets for this kit. This is Exito Decals' offering and it is a good one. As usual, there are three interesting options for the modeler to consider.

First up is 'Marjorie Ann' an aircraft that was supposedly used by Richard Bong during a late summer 1944 war bond tour.

Next is 'Beautiful Lady' flown by John O'Neil of the 9th FS/49th FG based in New Guinea in late 1943.

The third one is 'Babe', a 48FS/14FG aircraft based in Tunisia in June 1943.

Decals are superbly printed by Cartograf. What makes this set truly unique is that each of the markings options' placement diagrams are really full size color prints suitable for framing. The front gives left and right while on the back are upper and underside images as well as notes and sometimes a photo or two of the aircraft in question. Paint references are with AK and Mr Hobby Color, but most brands make the shades used.
