The Bf-109 has been a favorite of most WWII modelers for many years. The reason is probably that they were in so many interesting camouflage schemes. Mustangs, Spitfires and Yaks were generally all the same in terms of camouflage, but not so the 109. This sheet from Exito has come up with three very interesting schemes. This is their second 1/32 offering and it repeats those schemes on their recent 1/48 sheet.

The initial offering is a Bf-109E-7 as flown by Heinrich Ehrler of 4./JG 5 in Finland in April of 1942. It is in the standard RLM 74/75/76 scheme with a yellow cowling and lower wing tips, It is also heavily mottled, almost completely obscuring the fuselage RLM 76.

Next in a G-6 version flown by Robert Weiss of 10./JG 54 in January 1944. This one has the underlying camouflage scheme covered in large white swaths, making for a very interesting, though complex to paint, camouflage scheme.

The third option is an F-4/trop variant flown by Gordon Gollob with JG 77 in June 1942. This has the standard desert scheme overpainted with RLM 71 or 70. It has the standard eastern front yellow bits along with a large yellow section just forward of the supercharger intake.

Decals are superbly printed by Cartograf. What makes this set truly unique is that each of the markings options' placement diagrams are really full size color prints suitable for framing. The front gives left and right while on the back are upper and underside images as well as notes and sometimes a photo or two of the aircraft in question. Paint references are with AK and Mr Hobby Color, but most brands make the shades used.
