This latest sheet from Euro Decals is for one of my favorite aircraft, the F-100 Super Sabre. It was the USAF's first operational jet capable of supersonic flight in a straight line. For much of the mid to late 1950s and even into the early 60s, it was a mainstay of the USAF both in country and overseas. In addition, it was widely used by NATO nations, served in Vietnam, and soldiered on in the ANG until the mid 1970s.

This new sheet provides markings for four colorful aircraft from the late 1950s. All are listed as being natural metal, so this would be the time prior to the USAF painting the planes in overall aluminum lacquer.

The initial offering is from the 1st FDS/413 FDW based at George AFB in 1959.

Next up is 481st TFS/27th TFW based at Cannon AFB in 1959.

Also from the 27th TFW, this one with the yellow trim was with the 524th TFS, also from 1959.

Finally, with the blue trim is this 454th FBS/323 FBW based at Bunker Hill AFB in 1957.

There is no kit recommended in the instructions so I'm assuming these will fit kits from Trumpeter, Revell (Monogram) and ESCI. All are F-110D aircraft. The set comes with a separate sheet with sufficient common markings for one aircraft. The newest of these three kits is by Trumpeter, but they botched the intake. Fortunately, there is a resin replacement available. Next would be the Monogram offering and my last choice would be the ESCI offering, which by all accounts is to be avoided.

According to their web site, this is the first of four sheets of F-100s and I couldn't be happier about it. Well worth picking up.
