Notes: For Hasegawa and Italeri family of 190s

Yes, I know that Eagle Strike is no longer producing sheets and has been bought by Squadron. Well, this 2001 sheet was on deep discount by the current owners of the brand and I couldn't pass up the chance to add a sheet I didn't have in my collection. Besides, one can always use another 1/72 FW-190 sheet.

This one has four aircraft on it and while the sheet is listed as for Home Defense 190s, at least two of them are from ground attack units. Some of these have been duplicated on old Superscale/Microscale sheets, but generally, later sheets provide more accurate information in terms of markings and camouflage. The sheet provides enough insignia and swastikas for all four options as well as full data markings for at least two. A data placement guide is on the very nicely done instruction sheet.

OK, plane one is from JG 1 in mid 1943. This white and black checkered cowled FW-190A-6 is in standard RLM 74/75/76 with yellow under the cowling and a white spinner with black spiral. Minimal mottling.

Number two is a late war FW-190A-8 from an unknown unit. Colors are RLM 81/82 over 76 with yellow nose band and rudder. Black spinner with white spiral. Camouflage is pretty solid on the forward sides with the rear and cowling well mottled.

The last two are both from I/Sch G.1 in Poland during late 1944. These are FW-190G-3s, which may be hard to model as I know of no G versions kitted in 1/72. You'll have to modify an FW-190A-5/6 kit, particularly in that these had no nose guns. Anyway, both are in RLM 74/75/76 with yellow lower cowling and lower wing tips. White G has a yellow fuselage band and both have rather light mottling on the fuselage sides. Both have black spinners with a red tip and thin white band. Have fun painting those!

Generally Eagle Strike decals have been quite good and despite being 10 years old, these should still be quite viable.
