One doesn't see too many C-47 sheets so it is quite nice to have a couple of them arrive. This is the first of two new ones and concentrates on the European theater. Of course, there is but one C-47 in 1/48 and that is the very nice Monogram kit that has been with us for decades. All four of the options on this sheet are in Olive Drab over Neutral Grey with Medium green mottles on the fin and/or rudder in various patterns. Note that the OD shades are a bit different depending on how long the plane has been in service as this shade faded rather quickly. There are enough insignia provided for the first option and any one of the other three.
First up is a C-47D of the 36 TCS when operating in Tunisia during 1943. This one has had the fuselage sprayed in Black or a Dark Grey (as in Neutral Grey) for night operations during the invasion of Sicily.
Next is a Normandy Invasion C-47A from the 94 TCS. It has large invasion stripes that the modeler will need to paint. This one has a nose art of a sailing ship and named 'Argonia' after the pilot's home town.
With its nice black and yellow checkered cowlings, this C-47A is from the 340 TCS. It has a very faded Olive drab except for a section on the fin that has been repainted.
Finally, a C-47B from the 312 FS (that's what it says) in 1945. This one has black and yellow spinners with yellow fin stripes.
I notice that the drawings all show the complete tail cones.
