This second
sheet covers three more FW-190A-8/R-8 aircraft. The recommended kit is the
Hasegawa 1/32 version and all of them carry the additional armor plating on
the forward fuselage. A template is provided for you to make your own out
of plastic card. It is easy to do as I've done a similar thing with a 1/48
kit many years ago.
First up
is Black 13 of JG 3. This was flown by Maj. Walter Dahl and includes the
armored canopy section, which can be made with thin plastic strip and clear
sheet. The entire nose is painted black, including the spinner which has a
yellow spiral. The upper cowl guns are removed. Except for an area around
the fuselage insignia, the fuselage is in RLM 74. The rest is in the
standard 74/75/76 scheme. A white fuselage band is carried.
Next is Red 8 of 11./JG3 and it also has a black cowling with black spinner and yellow spiral. It carries a white fuselage band and is in the standard camo scheme.
Finally, White 11 from 5./JG 54. This is the most 'normal' looking 190 on the sheet with only a yellow underside to the cowl to go with its black spinner and white spiral. The fuselage band is black/white/black.
Since the area behind the fuselage insignia is in either RLM 74 or 75, a template has been provided for those who wish to paint on this feature. A goof was made on the area behind the engine of the second scheme so a small addendum sheet has been added. There is also a smaller sheet with the additional insignia and spirals needed.
