NOTES: |
For the Trumpeter Wildcat (and you can also use the old Revell kit if you wish), comes a very nice sheet that includes a number of aces. All are in the blue-grey over light gull grey scheme.
First up is Jim Swett's VMF-221 aircraft with a nice tail art that was only on the plane for a few days before he was ordered to remove it. It was probably only on the left side, but a second has been included just in case. Note the painted out white tail stripe.
Next is Marion Carl's VMF-223 Wildcat. All of these aircraft served on Guadalcanal from April-October 1942.
An ex 'operation Torch' aircraft that managed to find its way to the Pacific is next. It has an Indian head marking just below the windscreen.
Finally, Joe Foss' VMF-121 Wildcat from late in the campaign.
Color info has been provided and apparently the only accurate blue-grey color is Floquil 303162. I'd be willing to bet that White Ensign's newest paint line also includes this color!
If you are also doing the 'black 8' aircraft, then there are enough markings to do two of the planes on the sheet.
