Caracal Models CD 48183: USAAF
nice sheet covers USAAF Mosquitos. The majority of these are the later PR
version with the dual supercharger, hence two intakes on the underside of the
engine cowling. For these, you will need the Tamiya kit as it provides that
feature. Most of these options are overall PRU Blue Though the first option is
in standard RAF camouflage and two of the aircraft are in overall black. Some
have partial or complete D-Day stripes. The USAAF did not have a decent long
range reconnaissance aircraft so used Mosquitoes for this purpose. These planes
were generally attached to Bomber Groups.
We have nine options on this particular sheet:
deHavilland Mosquito B Mk VII "Spook" 43-324926, USAAF
deHavilland Mosquito PR Mk XVI RF992, 654th BS, USAAF
deHavilland Mosquito PR Mk XVI NS538, "Mickey ship" (with H2X radar),
654th BS, USAAF
deHavilland Mosquito PR Mk XVI MM388, 654th BS, USAAF
deHavilland Mosquito PR Mk XVI MM345, 653rd BS, USAAF
deHavilland Mosquito PR Mk XVI RG157, 497th BS, USAAF
deHavilland Mosquito PR Mk XVI NS581, USAAF
deHavilland Mosquito PR Mk XVI NS594, 653rd BS, USAAF
deHavilland Mosquito PR Mk XVI NS519, 653rd BS, USAAF
The decal sheet is superbly printed by Microscale and carries enough
insignia to do three options if you choose wisely. The blue surround
decals are for those that have the D-day fuselage stripes.
