Caracal Models CD 48087: F7F Tigercat part 1

This next sheet is for a kit that has been around for a bit, but there has been a dearth of decal sheets developed for it. So Caracal Models figured it would be a good time to present one and this includes four interesting options.

First up is a fire bomber operated by Cal-Nat Airways Inc. This aircraft will require a resin tank for the underside of the fuselage and several have been done in resin over the years.

Next will also require a bit of modification in terms of an F8F canopy that is easily found in vacuform. It is an F7F-2D drone controller from VU-4.

The third and fourth options are both night fighter F7F-3Ns attached to VMF(N)-513 during the Korean War.

AMT released all three F7F variants quite a few years back and  Italeri has reissued them since then. A quick google shows a number of them at a good price, too.

The decals are superbly printed by Microscale so you know the quality is there.
