This next Caracal Models sheet is for the recent F-101A/C Voodoo by Kitty Hawk. It is a bit of a challenge to do an aftermarket sheet for this aircraft as it was only flown by one USAF wing, the 81st TFW based in the UK at Bentwaters.

So it is that two of the options are for that unit. The one with the tricolor fin marking is a later 1961 scheme that was applied to all of the wing's aircraft so they could be used as required instead of being assigned to a specific squadron. The red band aircraft is from 1960 when the planes were squadron assigned.

To add spice to the sheet, we have a NACA marked plane from NACA Langley in 1956. This plane also has ARDC badges under the cockpit.

Finally a record setter used in Operation Firewall during 1957 in which the aircraft set the world air speed record. This plane will require some modifications. First it has a long nose pitot tube. Secondly, it has extended afterburner cans that are similar, but not the same as, those used on the F-101B. Those basically overall metal, there are ADC Grey panels on the nose (no guns) and there are areas of fluorescent red on the underside and as wing and stabilizer stripes.

The instructions are quite detailed and show where all the various markings and paint are to be applied. The Cartograf printed decals are superb and quite colorful.

If you are planning to brave the KH F-101A/C, then you should consider this decal sheet.
