Caracal is continuing with their releases with this nice one for the H-34. In 1/48 there are two kits currently available. One is the older Revell kit and the other is the new one from Gallery. Both of them should work fine as the sheet is for those helos that have the later, v-braced landing gear.

There are three options on this sheet and the sheet provides what appears to be enough insignia and stencils to do two of the options.

First up is an overall international orange UH-34D of HT-8, the Navy's helo training unit at Pensacola in 1968. This one has a large black area on the top of the boom that is undoubtedly non-skid for the maintenance types.

Next is an overall light gull grey UH-34D from VC-1 at Barbers Point in 1973. This helo will need to have the blue band painted on it. These helos were used to retrieve drones from nearby Barking Sands and for general SAR.

Finally, an HH-34J that was seconded to the USAF with the 304ARRS at Portland Oregon in 1973. This one is shown as in light gull grey, but I have seen these in  ADC grey as well. The outline walkway area is for this option. The decals are superbly printed by Cartograf and are very nicely done.
