NOTES:

For their second sheet, Balkan Models has chosen to do some MiG-21s with various exercise markings. The sheet itself is superbly printed with crisp, clear markings and no registration issues. Even the stencils are legible.

There are four subjects on this sheet, each one a different variant of the aircraft. The recommended kits for this sheet are by OEZ, Academy and Eduard.

Black 104 is the first subject. This is a MiG-21R in aluminum with a small white flash behind the nose number.

Next is a MiG-21M, black 823. This aircraft has an azure blue nose and wing tips. This aircraft is not shown in the markings placement guide as somehow, black 104 was printed twice, but one can use the cover illustration and the next subject for markings placement. Those needing the guide for this aircraft can find the correct markings page here.

Third is Black 870, a MiG-21MF. Though similarly marked to Black 823,  the nose band does not go all the way around with a gap where the pitot probe attaches.

The final aircraft is black 157, a MiG-21bis. Unlike the others, this one is in an air superiority grey and carries a white band around the rear fuselage/fin (supplied on the decal sheet). The grey is listed as FS 36375 so should be easy to find.

The full color instructions offer a full data placement guide as well as a paint chart that lists over a half dozen paint brands, a nice touch. The set also includes complete stencils for the airframe and for the bang seat. There are enough markings and stencils to do three complete aircraft.

Visit the Balkan Models web site at www.balkanmodels.si to see what else they offer and where these are available.  They have some great things coming and I look very much forward to reviewing these.

Thanks to Balkan Models for the review sheet. Ask your local shop to get this one for you when it is available or check the link for the stockist nearest you.
