Another US nautical sheet, this time the F4F Wildcat. At the time of its release, the kit to use was the one by Tamiya and many still think it is the best out there though Hobby Boss has also done a newer kit and there is even the ancient Monogram kit, which frankly needs work, but it can be used.
These are all fairly early F4F-4s so the majority of the planes are in the Blue-Grey over Light Gull Grey scheme. Aeromaster includes their interpretations on small chips added to the instruction sheet.
First up is from VF-71 aboard the USS Wasp during the Battle of Guadalcanal on 7 August 1942.
Next is the lone tricolor plane, complete with red surround insignia. This one is from an unknown unit and most likely was a training squadron in mid 1943.
Third up is a plane named 'Junior' with VF-5 aboard the USS Saratoga, also flown during the Battle of Guadalcanal on 7 August 1942.
F17 is from VF-8 aboard the USS Hornet during the Battle of Midway in June of 1942.
Finally, we have an aircraft assigned to VGF-29 aboard the USS Santee in late 1942. It later participated in Operation Torch and got the yellow surround insignia though those are not included on this sheet.
