Underworld Decals ACA-10: Frontier Airlines 737-200

Frontier Airlines is an American ultra low-cost carrier headquartered in Denver, Colorado. The eighth-largest commercial airline in the US, Frontier Airlines operates flights to over 100 destinations throughout the United States and six international destinations, and employs more than 3,000 air-travel professionals. The carrier is a subsidiary and operating brand of Indigo Partners, LLC, and maintains a hub at Denver International Airport with numerous focus cities across the US. In August 2018, Frontier began connecting passengers with Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris under a codeshare agreement.

The machinations of the airline industry in the US with regards to bankruptcies, sell-offs and acquisitions is convoluted and Frontier has been part and party of this cycle. However the airline is currently doing fairly well and still viable, despite no longer being Denver based. The 737-200 was its first airliner type and to date, the fleet still has their colorful tail art.

This sheet is printed in Australia using an Alps style printer which means a single carrier and no clear coat, so the decals are somewhat fragile until they are applied and a clear coat put over them. This particular scheme is actually quite simple with four major markings (fuselage with windows and logos, and the tail. Windscreen, nose gear door numbers and rear door windows make up the rest of the sheet. The aircraft itself has a white fuselage with the rest of the airframe in polished aluminum, so painting is fairly basic. In regards to available kits, I fear that airliners are not a major subject compared to military aircraft and so we must still rely on the venerable Airfix offering.
