HISTORY |
THE KIT |
The AeroBase MicroWing series covers Pioneer and Fighter aircraft. Most of the latter are WWI and a Zepplin is included. They also do a few 1/72 and 1/48 kits. You model railroaders will immediately note that 1/160 is N scale, so perhaps there is a method in their madness.
The detail of these kits is really superb and they are designed to be quickly assembled using little more than a pair of pliers, tweezers and superglue. Most of the construction will be in bending the various wing ribs so that the spars will fit properly. The metal nose is where the engine and prop are attached.
This kit is the lone result of my entry into a raffle at the IPMS Nats in Chicago and it has languished in a dusty drawer since then. Since then, I was impressed with another in the series and it dawned on me that I had one of them, so decided to preview it. A small square of Plexiglas is included as a display base.
CONCLUSIONS |
Though a bit pricey (2000 yen is like $20 and when you add $8 or so shipping to it, it is not a cheap kit), there is nothing out there like it.
