HISTORY

The
1957 Chevrolet is a car which was introduced by Chevrolet in September 1956 for the 1957 model year. It was available in three series models: the upscale Bel Air, the mid-range Two-Ten, and the One-Fifty. A two-door station wagon, the Nomad was produced as a Bel Air model. An upscale trim option called the "Delray" was available for two-ten 2-door sedans. It is a popular and sought after classic car. These vehicles are often restored to their original condition and sometimes modified. The car's image has been frequently used in toys, graphics, music, movies and television. The '57 Chevy, as it is often known, is an auto icon

THE KIT

Snap tite kits are a great way to introduce youngsters into the hobby or for the more experienced modeler to be able to produce a replica in a rather short period of time. This one was purchased by your editor as he needed a one-piece slot car body that this certainly fills the bill.

The kit is molded in several colors with a dark red body, black chassis, white interior bits and the usual chrome sprue for bumpers and wheel inserts. The tires are a vinyl or rubber and the kit comes with metal axles and pins to hold the chassis in place. A single piece of clear is used for the windscreen and back window. While it can be built unpainted, those over 14 will probably want to paint the kit and at least do the Bare Metal Foil thing on the trim. As a snap kit, no cement is required, but it would be recommended.

Since this is a no paint kit, no color information is provided. The kit comes with an extensive sticker suite for the interior trim, license plates and some customizing decals. A feature of the kit is that the front axle has two positions, like the old SMP kits I built as a kid, so one can have the front end lowered.

CONCLUSIONS

Perhaps not for the experienced modeler unless one just wants to get it to toss together, but definitely something that would be perfect for your youngsters.
