A series that is proving to be very popular is U-Boot im Focus and today we have a look at the latest edition. As with the earlier volumes,  UIF #5 is in the large A4 format which allows for some superb and large photographs, something that is important when dealing with ships of all types as they tend to be long and skinny! There are sections on boat types, conning towers, combat actions, personalities, the popular 'pictures with a story' section, camouflage and a lot more. This is additionally enhanced with color images throughout the book. Particularly nice are the articles on the 'Biber' mini-subs and the Type XXI U-boats.

All of the stories are good ones and show the boats and crews as one does not usually see them. There are quite a few markings articles and some that are quite unusual as well. Certainly not what I've read from the usual sources.

Like the earlier LIF books, this one is dual English/German and contains not only some rare period color photos, but a lot of previously unpublished images from a number of sources. There is delight in every page, making this book one that you simply have to get.
